Established in 1994, my practice is located in Los Altos and provides a full complement of professional landscape architectural services. Recent works range in complexity from single family small and large scale residences to significant cultural and institutional commissions.

I have a staff of licensed landscape architects and designers who assist me in providing personal service to our clients and their projects. They share their design expertise and years of experience as we collaborate and seek innovative design solutions of enduring beauty. My staff and I are committed to providing the highest standard of design excellence and responsible environmental stewardship to all of our projects.

Mr. Klope is the principal of Thomas Klope Associates, Inc. and has over thirty years of project experience in California, Hawaii, and New England. He is responsible for all design, supervises all projects, attends project meetings, and is the primary project contact on all commissions in his office.

Tom has extensive experience and expertise in all phases of the planning process. This includes site analysis, master planning, design, construction documentation, and administration. He has successfully collaborated with a wide range of architects, engineers, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams on award winning projects including Platinum LEED designs. Additionally, Tom possesses an established record with numerous public agencies and is familiar with governmental review procedures having been a former commissioner himself.

Donna assists Tom with major projects and brings over thirty years experience to the team. She is a talented landscape architect and has worked on a wide range of residential projects and cultural institutions.

Working on job sites, collaborating with contractors and civil engineers, and spending time in nurseries make her an invaluable resource for our clients and Klope Associates.

    Senior Landscape Designer

    Since joining Klope Associates, Miranda has assisted with the completion of over forty projects. She has an eye for planting design and composition and is skilled in project coordination with clients, consultants, and town staff. Maintaining project momentum and completing tasks in a timely manner are additional skills she brings to the office and our projects.

  • Neutra House Architecture Design Camp

    For several years Miranda has taken a leading role in the planning and facilitation of the biannual Neutra House Architecture Design Camp for middle and high school students displaying interest in architecture, landscape architecture, or engineering. The weeklong camp combines classroom instruction provided by leading professionals in their respective fields with local off-site trips to view examples of the concepts and designs presented.

Francisco and Kevin are important members of the team who assist in the development of project design and the construction documents from which contractors bid a project and build it. They are skilled in CAD, graphics, and rendering software that are used to construct drawings and digital 3-D models. Their up-to-date knowledge of computer programs ensures that our landscape architectural work integrates with that of other project team consultants.

    As office administrator, Susie assists Tom in the composition of all proposals and contracts and contract extensions. She oversees the management of client accounts, monitors the time spent on each project, and assists our clients in understanding the process and phases of a landscape project.

  • Landscape Architectural Contract Process

    Though each project is unique, all landscape architectural work is divided into phases and our office offers an initial contract in order to begin the Master Planning Phase. Once a design has been approved, the work moves to Design Development and Construction Documentation with contract extensions as needed. The final phase is Construction Consultation in which our office provides, if requested, oversight to ensure the client's vision is produced.

    We invite our clients to visit the office and meet all of the Klope Associates.
